Tribute Page Alumnus John McArdle coached basketball at Chestnut Hill Academy (now SCH Academy) for 17 seasons (1986-87 / 2002-03), winning 227 games and three Inter-Ac League co- championships. An email received from a CHA grad, who preferred to remain anonymous . . . Coach Mac has been a staple in Philadelphia since the 1960s. Tonight my friends and I toasted to Coach Mac. We toasted to his humility. We toasted to his ability to connect with his players. We toasted to undying love to Chestnut Hill Academy and our memories of him there. The days of educators like Coach Mac seem to be passing us by. The Chestnut Hill Academy community mourns for men like John McArdle, for he was they type of person we all aspired to. I once asked you if there was a better view from home plate in America rather than the view at Chestnut Hill Academy. You contemplated for a moment and replied �I�m not so sure� While the view of the Wissahickon Inn may have served as the background for films, it was the men like John McArdle that made it the most spectacular view in America.
