Quarterfinals Northeast 28, Dobbins 20 Tavis Green raced 76 yards for a back-breaking TD and finished with 148
yards on 14 carries while Dante Poole added 72 yards and a score on 17 rushes.
Green also posted 72 yards on two returns. Mike Konrad passed for one score and
ran for another. For Dobbins, which entered unbeaten, Andre Davis passed
8-for-13 for 160 yards and three TDs, all to Daniel Stevens (5-111). Bok 16, King 6 Kyle Lark, who'd make a quick recovery after being shot in the back three
weeks earlier, causing his teammates to nickname him "Lark Kent," made one
interception, broke up two more passes and logged six tackles (two for losses).
Eddie Turner rushed 20 times for 130 yards and a TD. For King, Rasheim "Feet"
Wright passed 7-for-17 for 100 yards and a TD to Chavaun Johnson (5-67). Washington 20, Central 6 Bruce Perry rushed seven times for 122 yards and two TDs, both in the
fourth quarter. Perry's second score, an 83-yard sprint, came just after
Washington's Jafar Williams tackled Central receiver Jamar Williams at the 17.
Central's Kairi Cooper produced 107 yards on 27 carries. Mastbaum 34, Bartram 6 Shaihie Wynder passed 10-for-14 for 161 yards and a TD to Ethan Cottrell
(5-60). Eric Plant added four catches for 90 yards. Hasan Jones took care of the
rushing, posting 110 yards and two TDs on 11 carries. Bartram's Rashan Brown
(9-89) started the scoring with a 49-yard run. Semifinals Doubleheader at Northeast Mastbaum 40, Washington 32 Will Richards rumbled for 130 yards and three TDs on 20 carries as the
Panthers surprised unbeaten Washington. Shaihie Wynder passed 10-for-18 for 94
yards while Eric Plant led the receivers (6-42) and maneuvered his way to a
78-yard score on a kickoff return. For Washington, Bruce Perry sped for 201
yards and three TDs on 18 carries and Edvard Jean passed 5-for-19 for 103 yards
and two scores to Jafar Williams (5-103). The teams combined for 34 first downs,
641 yards total offense and 227 yards on returns (868 total). Northeast 9, Bok 8 In a circumstances-for-the-ages finish, Northeast reversed an 8-7 deficit
with 0:08 left when Dante Poole blocked Ralph Sheridan's punt through the back
of the end zone for a safety. Bok had only 10 players on the field on the
fateful play -- the missing man was one of Sheridan's three personal protectors.
With 1:02 left, Northeast coach Harvey "Brew" Schumer opted not to attempt a
chip-shot field goal and Tavis Green (17-110) was dumped for a 1-yard loss on
fourth-and-1 from the 4. Poole scored Northeast's TD on a 10-yard run. For Bok,
Will Gadson passed 10-for-18 for 121 yards, leaped into the end zone for a
2-yard TD midway through the fourth quarter and then flipped a conversion pass
to Ed Brumskill. Gadson played more than half the game with a broken leg and
needed three stitches to repair a gash in his chin. Bok, the smallest PL school
with football (400 male enrollment), was trying to make the final for the first
time since 1951. Final At Northeast Mastbaum 28, Northeast 7 Shaihie Wynder passed 8-for-16 for 128 yards and a TD to Earl
Johnson while Hasan Jones, Will Richards and Hasan Ashmore (a clinching
68-yarder on a slotback counter) ran for one score apiece. Center Danny Hughes
was able to enjoy a victory in the title game after his father and brother, Jim
and Jim Jr., had experienced defeat in 1975 and '93 while also playing on the
offensive line for Mastbaum. Eric Plant made nine tackles. For Northeast, Dante
Poole rushed 12 times for 59 yards and a score.
