Quarterfinals Mastbaum 42, Washington 7 Kyle Shedrick included an 87-yard TD among his nine carries for 169 yards
and Brian Smith rushed 17 times for 116 yards and three TDs. Washington's score
came on Reuben White's 78-yard punt return. Dobbins 19, Bok 14 James Brock ran 16 times for 110 yards and a TD. Antowine Graham ran for
one score and passed for another. Bartram 14, Roxborough 12 Mack Taylor blocked Lyrio Noel's 26-yard, field-goal attempt with 27
seconds remaining to preserve the win. Paul Northern ran 24 times for 163 yards
and two TDs. For Roxborough, Gary Willis returned a kickoff 83 yards for a
score. Frankford 40, King 17 Eddie Gaskins rushed 26 times for 267 yards -- the No. 1 effort in PL
postseason history -- and four scores and Michael Rothmaller returned an
interception 54 yards for a TD. For King, Marc Daniels passed 7-for-11 for 110
yards and Travis Coleman rushed 20 times for 111 yards. Semifinals Doubleheader at Northeast Dobbins 17, Mastbaum 0 Yorel Prosser rushed 23 times for 174 yards and a TD. Mastbaum entered
unbeaten (except for a forfeit) and owned a 338-49 scoring advantage. Frankford 21, Bartram 0 Ronald James made 14 tackles (two for losses) and Eddie Gaskins rushed 16
times for 103 yards and a TD. Final At Northeast Frankford 28, Dobbins 0 Running through a driving rain on a bare field that was reduced to
mud-pit status, Eddie Gaskins produced 160 yards and two TDs on 17 carries to
give nine-year Frankford coach Tom Mullineaux his first title. Gaskins became
the second 2,000-yard, one-season rusher in city history (2,061) and tied the
one-season city mark for TDs (29, 28 on rushes). Also, he raised his career
rushing yardage total to 4,182, best in city-leagues history. Steve Szydlik ran
for one TD and passed to James Clay for another. Frankford finished 11-1 (20-19
Thanksgiving loss to North Catholic) and scored 417 points (34.8 average).
Linebackers Chris Covington and Danny Owens and lineman Ronald James helped to
hold Dobbins to one first down, 4 yards total offense and 27 plays.

Jim Casey (18-66) rushed for Judge's regulation TD. For McDevitt, Dennis Flaherty passed 9-for-18 for 121 yards. La Salle 40, North 0 Brett Gordon passed 14-for-23 for 177 yards and two TDs and kicked field goals of 18 and 32 yards along with three PAT. Drew Middlemiss returned a fumble 30 yards for a score and Brendan "Bird" Coyle made three tackles for losses. O'Hara 7, Kennedy-Kenrick 0 John Doherty rushed 20 times for 111 yards and a two-yard TD with 11:05 left. SJ Prep 14, Neumann 7 David Hand passed 5-for-15 for 119 yards and two TDs. Victor Hobson and Sean Killeen made nine tackles apiece. Semifinals At Northeast La Salle 41, O'Hara 10 Brett Gordon passed 11-for-18 for 195 yards and four TDs, with two going to Mike Mattia (5-123). Gordon raised his season's TD total to 25, breaking the city-leagues record of 24 set in 1989 by Frank Costa of SJ Prep. At Plymouth-Whitemarsh Judge 21, SJ Prep 12 Jim Casey ran 27 times for 112 yards and two TDs and D.J. Jones made nine tackles. The Prep scored on its first two possessions, but notched just two first downs thereafter. Final At Northeast La Salle 20, Judge 7 Mike Durso rushed 22 times for 113 yards and a TD, becoming the first Explorer all season to reach 100 yards, and Brett Gordon passed 16-for-33 for 162 yards and a TD to Jeff Pietrak. Gordon also kicked field goals of 23 and 34 yards. La Salle finished the season as the first 14-0 team in city-leagues history and extended its winning streak to 25 games. Gordon's two-year varsity passing totals stood at 4,190 yards and 51 TDs. Jim Casey ran for Judge's TD.

Season's Recap Malvern and Penn Charter (3-1-0)
In a memorable final weekend, Malvern defeated Owen J. Roberts,
24-16, in a non-league game to make Gaspare "Gamp" Pellegrini
the winningest coach in city-leagues history at 185-114-9. At the same
time, PC fell to 3-1-0 by losing to GA, 9-6. Pellegrini was not aware
of Penn Charter's loss until he saw the result in a Sunday newspaper.
