Catholic League
North Tiebreaker At Northeast Judge 12, Dougherty 7 An overflow crowd of 9,500 watched this one, necessitated when Dougherty triumphed over Judge, 9-6, one week earlier in the final game of the regular season. The Crusaders came back from a 7-0 deficit on short runs by Charlie Jarvis and QB Bill Kelly. Tom Walsh's fumble recovery and a bad snap on a punt set up those scores. Reserve QB Bob Sutton, an early replacement for the injured Glenn Hannigan, passed 14 yards to Jim Callahan for Dougherty's score. Those two connected for 57 yards to the Judge 24 as the game wound down. There was only time for one more play, an incompletion. Final At Kennedy Stadium Judge 32, St. James 14 Charlie Jarvis scored on passes of 40 and 18 yards from Bill Kelly and ran 8 yards for a TD to lead Judge. He also kicked two PAT and uncorked a 66-yard quick kick. Kelly scored a TD of his own on a keeper. Frank McGuigan got the Crusaders rolling by scoring on a 55-yard interception return. For St. James, halfback Tom Kaufman threw for two scores on trick plays and Bob "Sparky" Faries had an interception.
