City Title
At Franklin Field St. James 20, Northeast 20 (tie) St. James franchise Dick Christy carried 16 times for 131 yards and
a 79-yard TD, but he left the field dejected after his sure score in the final moments turned into a fumble and end-zone recovery for Northeast's Don
Jones. Christy finished the season with 1,520 yards and 19 TDs. He also passed
for 692 yards and six TDs, made nine interceptions and punted for a 41-yard
average. Don "Ducky" Van Horn carried five times for 75 yards and two scores.
For Northeast, Ed Kramer ran for two short scores, passed for one and kicked two
PAT. The leading rushers were Bill Rushing (25-117) and Paul Boldin (18-85).
Public League
Decided in Regular Season Northeast (7-0-0) On Thanksgiving, Paul Boldin ran for two TDs -- the longest being a
73-yarder -- as the host Archives topped Central, 12-7, before 8,000 to finish 7-0-0 and extend their two-season unbeaten streak to 11 games.
Boldin gained close to 200 yards. Bobby Gale made a late interception. Bartram
and Lincoln tied for second at 6-1-0.

Catholic League
Decided in Regular Season St. James (7-0-0) Dick Christy played a part in all five TDs -- running for three,
passing for two -- as the Bulldogs, CL members for 11 seasons, bashed West, 34-0, to win their first title. Christy's two longest TDs covered
73 and 88 yards. One of his TD tosses, to Don "Ducky" Van Horn, came on
a fake punt. South went 6-1-0 for second.

Inter-Ac League
Season's Recap Episcopal and Haverford School (3-1-0)
The Fords went to 3-1-0 in the next-to-last week by falling to
Episcopal, 7-6. Dave Carey had a 65-yard punt return to set up Ben Chadwick's
11-yard TD pass to Dave Roak and kicked the PAT. Jim Holmwood's interception set
up Sandy Tuttle's 1-yard TD run, but Ed Palmer blocked the PAT to preserve
Episcopal's win. Alas, Episcopal fell to 3-1-0 the next week by losing to host
GA, 7-0, on a short plunge by Frank Garoppo.
